GHG Emissions Verification under Egypt's FRA Decree 36/2026 (NBFI carbon disclosure)
Under Resolution No. 36 of 2026, issued by Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) on 28 January 2026, non-bank financial institutions with issued capital or net equity exceeding EGP 100 million are required to prepare an annual carbon footprint report covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, expressed in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.
Emissions data must be independently verified by an FRA-accredited verification body as a prerequisite for licence renewal, with a portion of reported emissions to be offset through FRA's voluntary carbon market.³ The original reporting deadline of 30 June 2026 was extended to 31 December 2026 under Decision No. 113 of 2026.
FTN Misr For Energy Consulting is accredited by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) as a Validation and Verification Body (VVB) for ISO 14064-1:2018 greenhouse gas verification (Certificate No. 1224008B, valid to 22 January 2030), and is registered with the FRA as one of a small number of entities approved to verify and monitor carbon emissions measurements under Decree 36/2026 (registration decision No. 2724 of 2026).
